Paths

The latest development in the forest garden section of the allotment was creating a path. With permanent plants that can be harvested year round we needed a path to have easy access to the crops, avoid stepping on plants and compacting that soil. In the spirit of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle I made a narrow looping path using what we had onsite.

Uprights to support a low woven edging were made from apple tree prunings. The weaving done in raspberry canes and the surface dried out grass weeded out from the raspberry patch. The canes aren’t the idea material to weave as they are a bit too brittle. I will soon have access to some dogwood prunings which will be much more supple and easy to use so I may replace most of the raspberry canes in time. But for now, it works!
