Pond - part 2

After digging a big hole in the semi-shaded east facing border, the next step was to line it and fill with water.

I reduced waste and avoided buying plastic by used an off-cut on heavy duty pond liner from my step dads pond. After laying it into the pond (phew, it fits!) I pushed it down into shape. Connecting a piece of hose from the nearby water butt created a quick and easy way to fill it up.

Stones and logs line the edges and to keep the liner in place, with smaller stones creating a beach area to allow easy access for creatures. Still more stones needed and of course lots more plants but I’m pretty pleased with the result!
